Tainted Love

Book #1 - Tainted Love Series of Erotic Romance

This is a dark and brooding gothic mystery featuring a terrified heroine, a morally ambiguous hero, an isolated setting, an eerie house, and layers of old family secrets.

The year 1887, Bar Harbor, Maine.

Lily Hill's sexual odyessy begins when she returns home to untangle the lies and distortions of her past, a past involving a lurid sex scandal, a suspicious death, and the very angry man she once loved and wronged, Doyle Donovan. Despite annonymous threats warning her to stay away, Lily is resolved to make reparations to Doyle ... in every manner he desires.

And Doyle is a man of many shocking desires.

...the promise in the first scene where we meet the sinfully hot Doyle. From the get-go, Lilian and Doyle's shared past ensured an emotional and sexual tension that kept me glued to my screen. While this story is the classic Big Misunderstanding, what makes it a Keeper for me is the sex. This is one of the most erotically charged books I've ever read. Doyle is a total alpha, so utterly compelling in his dominance (don't worry, I don't mean BDSM). He's crude, at times even cruel, in his initial conversations with Lilian, but instead of being disgusted, I was turned on. Why? Because even in those angst-filled moments -- no, especially in those moments -- there was a palpable heat just arching between these two. Trent also has hot dialogue to a T because just hearing Doyle's dark utterances was almost as hot as the real deal. And when Doyle finally takes Lilian, it's the start of many memorable encounters.

...I felt that Trent so masterfully charged every encounter in this book. Also, my preference has always been for dominant heroes, so I have no problem with the man taking charge (or at least in fiction!). Another warning I have to give is that anal sex does factor into a scene, so if this isn't your cup of tea, beware! Though I've never had any special preference for anal play, this particular scene is enough to make me think twice...) The long and short of it is, if you're looking for an erotic romance to keep you up at night, this is the e-book for you. While it doesn't have the most innovative plot, it does have some of the most innovative sex I've read in many, many months.

Louisa Trent's "Tainted Love" is a carefully woven historical erotic romance with strong elements of suspense. Ms. Trent slowly and carefully unravels Lilly and Doyle's story, intertwining glimpses to their past to enable the reader to put the pieces of the puzzle together, one by one ... yet, she successfully manages to surprise the reader at the end ... or at least, she managed to surprise this reader ;-) In the same way that Ms. Trent builds the suspense factor, she builds up the sexual tension factor, until she finally gifts us with a good deal of extremely hot love scenes that had me more than just slightly hot and bothered. This book contains what I consider one of the hottest masturbation scenes I have ever read. Just that scene forced me to step away from my computer for a bit, in search of some ice, and cursing at the fact that my husband and I were both at work. If you fancy suspenseful historical erotic romances, this one certainly is a must read.

the sexual play described in this book is varied and hot. Lillian has made up her mind to make amends to Doyle no matter the cost to her own pride. To Doyle, this means complete sexual submission to him. In ways that are sometimes sweet, sometimes humiliating, but always erotic, Doyle proves himself to be a true alpha-male and the kind of lover any adventurous woman would gladly welcome to her bed.

I usually do not care for historical settings in romance books, though I know that many readers love them. However, this time the Victorian period is essential to the story this wonderful book is telling. Ms. Trent describes the lives and surroundings of Lily and Doyle in a way that is absolutely enthralling. Anyone who enjoys tales of alpha men in a historical setting is sure to like this book just as much as I did, if not more.

I don't know how Louisa Trent comes up with some of the most scandalous romances that leave you numb from an overload of emotional friction but she does it time and time again. Lily and Doyle took the word chemistry to an entirely new level in her latest endeavor. Doyle's mastery of Lily, while at times crude and vulgar because of his remembered suffering and pain, still sent concupiscent shivers down my spine. Thankfully his love guaranteed he remained protective and continued to ensure her safety when she didn't seem smart enough to take care of herself. Lily made the perfect submissive, needing to make reparations for all the pain she caused in the past. She was willing to allow herself to be humiliated both publicly and privately. So much pleasure laced with past pain created some of the hottest encounters before the two ever got to actual penetration. Just in case you're wondering if I loved anything but the sex and daily interaction between the hero and heroine, the answer is yes!!! The suspense behind the murder and renewed threats made this book a true winner. I am waiting anxiously to see if Ms. Trent can top her ever growing works of genius.
